Photos of Human Residue

    Home    Photos    Contact

I have been a photographer for over 50 years. A few years ago, as I was walking down my alley, I was struck by the simple beauty of a pink bowtie that was lying on the dark asphalt. I snapped the photo and from that time on, I kept my eyes open for interesting discarded items, the human residue, and quickly began to see the beauty in so many objects that mankind would collectively say were simply ugly trash. This is my current favorite category: Residue.

In a very short time, I had collected a few thousand images on my daily walks around town. I feel they are part of our lives; things that we all see every day, that have an inherent beauty. But we dismiss them for their ordinariness and consider them a blight on our streets and sidewalks.

I believe that there is nothing more beautiful than the natural order. Therefore, every picture you see was taken exactly as it was as found. I did not touch or manipulate in any way the object or background before taking the photo.
